Yes, if you just plug it in, it will work as a USB 3.0 UVC webcam in any app. However, PTZ control and AI features like tracking and gestures require the Link Controller software, which does not need to be intrusive—you can set it to auto-launch and it runs in the tray.

Is the auto-framing smart enough to keep a person centered when they are partially out of frame?

Yes, the AI will quickly re-frame when the subject moves. We found it works best when the person remains within about 10 feet of the camera. If you step far out of frame, it will eventually lose you, but it recovers quickly when you return, similar to the Obsbot Tiny 2.

Does the Link 2 support vertical video for streaming to TikTok or YouTube Shorts?

Not natively—the sensor outputs a horizontal image. You can physically rotate the camera 90° using the clamp, but then the PTZ controls work in a skewed way. For vertical video, it's better to use a phone or a dedicated vertical webcam.

The Link 2 adds a physically larger touch panel for controls, better HDR processing, and a more silent gimbal. The sensor is still 1/2-inch, but the image is slightly sharper and has better dynamic range. If you already own the Link, the upgrade is only worth it if you rely heavily on low-light performance or want the improved AI.

Yes, the front LED turns on when the camera is active. There is also an auto-lock mode where the gimbal returns to a base position and the lens faces down to indicate the camera is idle, which users find reassuring.

The fixed FOV is about 67° at the widest, which is a standard webcam range. You can zoom digitally using the PTZ controls up to a 2x crop, essentially reducing the FOV to roughly 31° while maintaining crisp 1080p or 4K at lower zoom levels.

Does the webcam work with a green screen setup for chroma keying?

Yes, the 4K resolution and clean 4:2:0 output work well for chroma keying in OBS. The HDR mode is not recommended for green screen because it flattens contrast, so you should disable HDR for the best keying results.
